Colton is still in the hospital. He doesn't call home, unless he wants something. That's only been twice. I call him, and he doesn't want to talk. He has already written us off.
He's also not happy following the hospital rules. They have levels that each child has to work toward. He's still on level 2 because they say he's not taking anything seriously. I know all too well what they are dealing with. He's angry, and very unhappy there. He was angry and very unhappy here too.
We will all be happy when he enters the RTC, and learns some new skills. C's doctor is not very happy we are sending him, because he strait up says, it won't help him. I agree, it won't. BUT, I can't stand in front of a judge, trying to convince him that we have tried everything to help this child if we haven't tried everything.
The two residential treatment centers (RTC) we applied to are both out of state. The miracle that we were given this week, is that our insurance company finally approved a new RTC right here in Arizona. Whew!! Colton will be heading to Chandler soon.
C is excited to move on to a new adventure. I can't take it personal. Reactive Attachment Disorder is a scary and tough thing to deal with. Oppositional Defiant Disorder is hard too. ADHD is easy in comparison, but also has it's challenges. Explosive Disorder is just that, explosive. Then, add the sexual component, and you have an all around jumbled up kid. If this RTC can help any combination of things, then he has a chance to at least survive.
So, a small thing? Yes. We'll take any size miracle we can get!

Good news about the RTC approval in Chandler. We can't imagine how hard this has all been for you and C. We keep you and c in our prayers.
I have a sibling that has mental illness, it's awful. Prayers your way!
