and I'm up alone, so far. It's 5am. I've already been out to the living room to take my annual photos of the tree and presents before the chaos hits. It's peaceful. It won't be soon. But...
That's something I really enjoy on Christmas mornings. The calm before the storm. I can reflect on Jesus, his sacrifice for me, and then when the kids come running in with excitement, (okay, they are all teenagers, so they don't run, they just meander in), we can talk about and remember the reasons we are even celebrating.
This year, we have Rachel and Alden here (along with their parents - who we love and adore), and though Alden is a bit young to know what's going on, Rach is very aware, and she will run in and be so excited this morning. I can't wait!
All the family is home, together, after several long years. That is what means more to me than anything else. It won't be like this for several more Christmases, and the next Christmas we are all together, chances are there will be more grandchildren. Now who's excited?
Peaceful. Yes, that is what Christmas mornings are... when I'm up alone, the calm before the storm.
